Activating a Treo 650 on Verizon

WRITE DOWN YOUR ORIGINAL SETTINGS!

Required Hardware
1. Sprint Treo 650: You can buy from PalmOne.com without Sprint Plan
2. Treo 650 / Tungsten T5 Serial Cable: You must make yourself.

Required Software
1. Kyocera Wireless PST Chameleon Version
2. BitPim
3. Verizon PRL
4. Future Dial USB2Serial Driver

Step 1 :Install USB 2 Serial Driver
Plug the hand-made Serial Cable in to your computer

New Hardware Wizard will be launched automatically.

Select Install from a list or specific location(Advanced) and click Next.

Click Browse button.

Select the sub-folder Prolific XP for Windows XP or Prolific 98-Me-2k for Windows 2000, of Futur Dial USB-Serial Driver package.

Step 2 :Install Chameleon Suite
Install Kyocera Chameleon Suite

Install Kyocera Wireless Chameleon Suite.

Step 3 :Enable Passthrough mode
Turn on Treo650 and turn on the phone and punch ##3424.

Dial ##3424

Passthrough enabled must be shown. if you have trouble, reset the phone and try again.

Step 4 : Connect Serial Cable
Plug the serial cable into Treo 650

Step 5 : Install BitPim software
Install BitPim software

Install BitPim Software

Run BitBim after install

Step 6 : Change setting of BitPim
Change settings of BitPim.

BitPim Setting will be launched automatically.

Select Other CDMA phone

Click Browse... of Com Port

Select Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port and click OK button.

Step 7
Find OTKSL and MSL code.

BitPim is launched

Select View Filesystem from View menu

Double click the node nvm_0002

Remember the 2 six-digits number. First digits is OTKSL and second is MSL.

Step 8 : Setting for chameleon
Change setting chameleon.

Shut down bitpim and launch Kyocera Wireless Chameleon Configurator

Select Prolic USB-to-Serial Comm Port from the botton list and Close.

Step 9 : Run Chameleon
Launch Service Programming.

Launch the Kyocera Wireless Chameleon Service Programming and select the phone and click OK

Select Yes

Select Generic... and click OK

Step 10 : CDMA Programming
Treo650 CDMA Programming.

Select Read From Phone from Data menu.

Type the MSL or OKTSL Code you rignt back on BItPim software.

Click Browse at Roaming List 1 list and select Verizon PRL file.

Change SPC and OTKSL as 000000

Change the banner as you want.

Select Write All Items to phone from Data menu

Step 11 :Activate Verizon
Call Verizon Customer Service and ask change ESN with your Treo 650. They might deny chaning ESN because the esn is unknown. You must persuade the CS or quibble. During activaing Verizon, CS asked you to call *228 and push 1. Just follow the step. After finishing activating, call *228 again and push 2 to upgrade PRL

Step 12 :Change Express Network setting
1. Go into Network Preferences --> menu key --> Options --> View Log
2. Type in: "pdpset 1" and hit the enter key...then hit done
3. Use your new MSL code if asked.
4. Create a new service connection...
5. Hit menu, select New, and fill in:

Service: Express Network
Connection: High Speed Wireless
User Name: your10digitphonenum@vzw3g.com
Password: vzw

6. Click on Details, click off Mobile IP, then OK
7. Click on Connect and watch your tower icon change to data mode

Step 13 :Change browser setting
Go into phone mode.
Enter ##3282 --> DIAL -->
Select [menu] --> Browser --> [Modify]
Clear both Primary and Secondary NGG's and their ports
