May 24-28, 2010

The Michigan League
University of Michigan
Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA

Symposium Chairman: David K. Wehe

This Symposium is the 12th in a series of technical meetings dealing with ionizing radiation and its applications that began in 1964 and has subsequently been held at intervals of every four to five years. The most recent in this series was held in 2006 on the University of Michigan campus and SORMA XI West held in 2008 at the University of California-Berkeley, with a program that included over 300 presentations in both oral and poster format. Its focus has expanded over the decades to include the breadth of ionizing radiation measurement applications and technologies.

Interested authors are invited to review the primary topics of the Symposium and submit an abstract and 2 page summary paper by the deadline of Monday, March 15, 2010 through the Symposium website. Papers physically presented at the conference by one of the authors and accepted for publication will appear in a special edition of Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research A (NIM A).

Specific presentation and final manuscript submission instructions will be available soon. We look forward to your contributions.

The Domestic Nuclear Detection Office (DNDO) / DHS Workshop

Announcement and Information
DEADLINE FOR ABSTRACT SUBMISSION: 10 May 2010

Dear Colleagues,
The organizing committee extends to you an enthusiastic welcome to attend the 2010 Nuclear Science Symposium (NSS) and Medical Imaging Conference (MIC) and 17th International Workshop on Room Temperature Semiconductor Detectors (RTSD) – IEEE 2010 NSS MIC RTSD – in beautiful East Tennessee. The conference had some of its first meetings in the area, but has not been here since 1962. The meeting will be from 30 October to 6 November in the Knoxville Convention Center located in downtown Knoxville. East Tennessee is home to many institutions and companies that are active in our fields of interest.
An exciting and comprehensive program highlighting many state-of-the-art scientific and technological advances is planned. The subjects include radiation detection, detector materials, electronics, and image reconstruction algorithms as well as complex radiation detector and imaging systems for research and applications in the fields of medicine, biology, material science and physics. Special sessions on neutron detection and radiation detection systems for security are planned.
The 2010 IEEE NSS MIC RTSD program will highlight the advances in radiation detector R&D, nuclear science, high energy physics, and medical imaging. The exciting program will still allow ample time for networking, education, and discussion in an attractive environment.
I am certain you will find Knoxville and the surrounding area to be at its finest at this time of year and I welcome each of you to the NSS MIC RTSD in Knoxville in October 2010.
